Semi-daily hero tips. Day 63: Omniknight

DISCLAIMER

A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.

This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.

The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.

A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.

Omniknight

Notes:

• Don't be afraid to cancel purification cast animation when you see that the enemy won't get nuked
• Use repel preemptively!
• Don't be afraid to use ult when your team is at half health. Use it like a mek.
• Fountain diving is fun with ult on.
• Counters: Kotl, OD, Silencer, Lion (mana burn), Rubick (every single spell is a great steal), Oracle (lots of purges), AA (anti-healing + BKB piercing AOE ult)
• Good versus: Spectre, CK, Slark, WK, LS, Storm, PA, Naga, Bara, LC (Repel, GA. Basically any hero that uses a combination of aggressive spells and right click and/or has to commit once they use a certain spell)
• Versus: Guardian angel can be purged by diffusal.
• Guardian angel is also purged by Eul's, invoker tornado, Medusa stone gaze, storm panda cyclone, Oracle Purifying flames and Fortune's end and purge (satyr banisher). Just any basic dispel will do.
• Versus: Don't take soul ring active as a reason to attack, rather to stay away
• Versus: Remember ultimate cooldown 2'30

Role: Support/Utility offlane (, tanky semi-carry)

Item build:

• Support/Utility: Soul ring, Arcanes, Mek -> greaves
• Tanky semi-carry (aka the fun build): Soul ring, Phase, (Drums,) Armlet, Basher, AC
• Situationals: Blink, Aether Lens, Agh's, Pipe, Shiva's, Sheep stick, Force

Skill build: Purification --> Repel <-> Degen Aura
