Semi-daily hero tips. Day 64: Oracle

Tip

DISCLAIMER

A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.

This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.

The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.

A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.

Oracle

Notes:

  • BAT of 1.4. This is the same as Alchemist chemical rage lvl 1 and Juggernaut (most heroes have 1.7)
  • Purifying flames can be used with fate's edict on allies to not damage them, but fully get the regeneration on them.
  • Purifying flames regeneration can be purged off with fortune's end and has a 3 second cooldown. Which means you can cast flames --> fortune --> flames for over 1000 burst damage.
  • Friends: Huskar (false promise + berserker's blood + inner vitality = massive non-disabled damage + massive burst heal after 7/8/9 seconds)
  • Counters: DP (Silences, Eul's, you have no depush), Timbersaw (Pure damage, mobile), Naga (Song until oracle is out of combo's), Razor (passive, guaranteed link once false promise is used, you have no depush), Axe (culling blade kills through false promise), AA (ult prevents healing and will shatter through false promise), PL, TB, CK, Lycan, Furion (no depush, only single target spells)
  • Good versus: LC, Bat, Necro (fate's edict/false promise when ulted on), Techies, Storm, Ember, Jakiro (Fate's edict), DS (Purge Ion shell and Surge), BH (Purge Track), Skywrath (purge silence, Fate's edict)
  • Don't use Fate's Edict offensively unless you're a 100% sure your team fully understands the spell. You can NOT deal magic damage on the target.
  • Fate's edict works on Roshan
  • Purifying Flames will never deal lethal damage to allied heroes or allied creeps/summons.
  • Versus: False promise purge does not mean you can't disable a channeling enemy for an instant.

Role: support

Item build: Wind Lace, Arcanes, Urn, (Aether lens, force staff, glimmer, mek -> greaves, eul's, pipe)

Skill build: Flames --> Fortune's end --> Fate's Edict
