Semi-daily hero tips. Day 72: Queen of Pain

DISCLAIMER

A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.

This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.

The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.

A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.

Queen of Pain

Notes:

• Use animation cancel on shadow strike
• Blink to initiate if you're sure you're getting the kill AND getting back out again
• Shadow strike ticks every 3 seconds
• Versus: Bottle or armlet toggle between ticks to survive shadow strike
• Counters: A good TA, Viper (corrosive refreshes with each tick of shadow strike), Huskar (magic resistance, blink after his ult hits!), LC (builds blade mail, duel make your early game very hard), Meepo, Treant (root stops you from blinking)
• Good versus: Clock (blink when hookshotted), Timber (you have high magic/pure burst), Tinker (blink into trees to find him)

Role: mid (, semi-carry)

Item build: Null tali, Bottle, (Wand,) treads, (Orchid --> Bloodthorn, Veil, Dagon, Aether lens, Eul's, Shiva's, Linken's, Agh's, Sheep stick, BKB, Bloodstone, Mjollnir, Octarine)

Skill build: value point blink <-> value point shadow strike (or 2), max scream --> blink --> shadow strike
