Semi-daily hero tips. Day 74: Riki
DISCLAIMER
A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.
This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.
The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.
A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.
Riki
Notes:
- Smokescreen is amazing. Miss chances, AOE silence...
- Similar to PA, you can blink to allies and no longer blink from roots like frostbite and ensnare since 7.00
- Use the collision you have in invis. Don't block anyone if you don't want to be spotted. Block in invis to allow your ally to kill the enemy or to let your ally disengage.
- Eul's is a great situational for support riki ever since you can't purge with diffusal anymore. It also allows an easy smoke screen setup without having to use blink strike.
- Blink strike: if casted on enemies, the blink deals dmg but riki's actual auto attack can be cancelled so that he does not break invisibility. (/u/lpokijuih)
- When you get dusted try to hit something to break invis and take of the 20% ms slow.
- Versus: travel in pairs
- Versus: If you're not bristleback, turn around and try to attack riki, even in smoke screen
- Versus: Check your heroes movements to see if he's not colliding with riki
- Versus: Never push a tower without sentries
- Counters: Silences (stop him from going invis), force staff, eul's, ghost scepter, orchid, necro 3 (or any other true sight), sheep, rod of atos
- Counters: BH (true sight), Brood (often gets orchid, riki has no wave clear), Techies (riki likes to roam, which becomes very hard with techies), Naga, LD (root, radiance), IO (makes it a lot harder for riki to find solo heroes), Earth Spirit (silence), Bristle (makes the backstab kind of useless)
- Good versus: Medusa, WK (diffusal), Enigma (jungle counter), Storm, Slark, Lifestealer (silence), LC (blind in ult)
Role: roaming support (, carry)
Item build:
- Roaming support: OoV, Phase, RoA, (Urn, Vlad's,) Diffusal, (Heaven's Halberd, Manta, BKB, Basher, Eul's, SnY, Deso)
- Carry: PMS, RoA, Treads, Diffusal, (Echo Sabre,) Manta/SnY, BFly (, BKB, Heart, Vlad's, Abyssal)
Skill build:
- Roaming support: max cloak and dagger --> smokescreen --> blink
- Carry: max cloak and dagger --> blink --> smokescreen
