Semi-daily hero tips. Day 96: Treant Protector
DISCLAIMER
A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.
This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.
The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.
A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.
Treant Protector
Notes:
- You can use items and spells in nature's guise
- You're phased in nature's guise
- Nature's guise has a 0.75 second grace time, which is part of the reason you get blink. You can blink from the trees on to a hero and still apply the root (note: no longer bash)
- Don't use living armor on someone who's getting agro from a lot of creeps or neutrals.
- Same goes for towers, don't use it if an entire enemy creep wave is bashing on it. (#3)
- The damage instances won't tick if your tower is taking attacks when glyphed (#4)
- You can cast living armor on the minimap
- Living armor priorites early game: Heroes that are not full health --> heroes that can use the damage block --> towers
- Don't worry too much about the enemy carry breaking out of overgrowth with his BKB. If you can't help it, use it anyway
- Versus: Bring sentries to pushes, just to be sure.
- Nature's guise root can be purged, the invis can't.
- Versus: Avoid early game agression
- Versus: Fully push down a tower, or don't push at all
- Versus: BKB, Manta and other purges all get you out of overgrowth once it has been cast on you.
- Versus: You can manually cast orbs when in overgrowth
- Don't spam living armor too much until you maxed it. The cost to regen ratio is really low in earlier levels.
- Living armor is getting removed by HP removal, which shouldn't happen since HP removal isn't damage. (Still a bug?)
- Friends: Spectre, AM, Medusa, Alch, Naga, Morph (Treant gets you through early game with tower heals), Phoenix (egg + overgrowth)
- Good versus: Mirana, Storm, QoP (Root keeps them from using their escape spells), Spectre (Treant has huge early game kill potential), LC, Techies, SB, NS (Living armor)
Role: support
Skill build: Nature's guise --> Living armor --> Leech seed. Early value point in leech seed.
Item build: OoV, (Stick/Wand,) Arcanes/Tranquils, (medallion, midas,) Blink (<--> vlad's, mek), (greaves, pipe, agh's, solar crest, Lotus, Shiva's)
