Semi-daily hero tips. Day 104: Viper
DISCLAIMER
A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.
This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.
The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.
A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.
Viper
Notes:
- Corrosive does more DoT than poison attack. Take early value point(s) in poison attack though for the orb attacks.
- Versus: Before 25 min most heroes can't man up against viper, just TP out
- Good versus: Silencer (DoT vs corrosive, silence is not that relevant), Ember (high magic damage, DoT vs corrosive), Veno (DoT vs corrosive), TA (your DoT breaks refraction), Spectre (high magic damage, radiance vs corrosive), Zeus (high magic damage)
- Counters: PL, CK, TB, Meepo, Enchantress, Brew, Arc Warden, Brood, Furion (heroes with illusions/summons/clones), Slark (buys silver edge to break viper's passives), SD (ult break with agh's, strong viper illusions)
- Friends: Veno (bringing cancer to your lane)
- Honestly this hero is just boring.
Role: mid, dual lane core
Item build: Magic wand/bottle, RoA, (Raindrops,) Threads, (Hood,) Pike, (yasha --> manta/SnY, Blade Mail, BKB, Pipe, BFly, agh's, AC, Mjollnir)
Skill build: value point in all 3 by lvl 3 --> corrosive --> nethertoxin --> orb
