Semi-daily hero tips. Day 111: Wraith King
DISCLAIMER
A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.
This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.
The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.
A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.
Wraith King
Notes:
- Vampiric aura is not a UAM
- Mango is a great item for you to use just before you die, so you're sure (almost) you have the mana for reincarnate
- When reincarnate is up later in the game, man up and take all their spells, revive, turn on BKB and wreck them
- Counters: IO, DS (mobile heroes), PL, AM, KotL, Invoker (mana burn from skills, necro books, diffusal), Brood, Meepo (summons/clones/illusions)
- Friends: IO
- Versus: Be aware of lvl 1 rosh attempts
- Tell people when your reincarnation is on cooldown (alt-click)
- Good versus: Spectre, Silencer, Enigma, Techies, LC, Bloodseeker (long cooldown ultimates/can only really kill him once)
- Don't level your reincarnation until you are sure it will be useful. Leave the skill point open if you think you'll die twice anyway. The cooldown is really long at lvl 1
Role: Hard Carry (, support)
Item build:
- Free farm: Midas, Treads, Armlet, Blink <-> Radiance, (Blade Mail, Mjollnir, Deso, BKB, Heart, Abyssal)
- Fighting: (Midas,) Treads, Armlet/Echo Sabre <-> Blink, (Deso, Blade Mail, Abyssal, AC, BKB, Heart, Mjollnir, Agh's)
- Support: Treads, Blink, Solar Crest (, Agh's)
Skill build: Wraithfire blast --> Mortal strike --> Vampiric aura. Early value point in aura.
